4 MINUTE TV PROGRAM EXPOSES HOW A ‘DEVIL’ EMPLOYER TRIED TO FORCE A FRIEND OF MINE TO GIVE UP HIS PASSIONS AND WORK 24X7 IN EXCHANGE FOR $100,000 UP FRONT.
A SMALL FORTUNE. Did my friend take the $100,000, or did he defeat the devil?
The program shows how vital it is to maintain your own private personality drivers when marketing information online, because it is YOU people are buying, not just a faceless product.
The bottom line is that the hobbies, passions and life interests that consume us are the very things that enable us able to do our work. If we decide to not do these any more, and focus just on the work, the magic will disappear, and dullness and mediocrity will creep in.
The TV program reveals the titanic collision between my friend and the ‘devil’.

Thanks for the great tip Jonathan. It is so easy to bury your head in this whole IM thing and forget that you have a life!
Hi Elizabeth. Yes indeed.
We all need to come up for air – no matter how obessive we are about Traffic etc.

Hey Jonathan,
Hope your birthday celebrations went well – congrates on reaching 21 mate
With regards to todays video – wow – gave me a real “AHA” moment. To much work makes jack a dull boy which I think may just be a UK saying.
While you was explaining about how important it is to take a break away from work and engage in hobbies that you enjoy, there was a real passion to how you expressed it.
It came across really well and is probably why it sparked that “AHA” moment.
Thanks Jonathan – it has reminded me that I have a life away from this laptop and business which can sometimes easily be forgotten.

Re ‘AHA moment’ generation – sounds like getting away from the laptop is #1 example.
“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” familar here in the far flung colonies.

Brilliant point, Jonathan. Who we are as a person makes us successful in whatever we strive toward. If we are consumed by our vocation to the detriment or exclusion of our personal life, we will be exactly that- consumed.
Wally. “Consumed by our vocation” … yes indeed that is the very point –
WELL PUT!
Jonathan
A vital lesson here. It’s a shame that so many businesses/companies try to squeeze out people’s personalities and individual quirks and point of views. This really does create a boring work environment.
If you can’t get passionate about your own life, how are you supposed to get passionate about the products you sell? How are you supposed to get passionate about your clients’ products and services? (for marketing people).
This is a great point. I’ve favourited this page so that I can come back to it every time I get my head get so into the daily grind that I forget about a little thing called balance.
And you’re right of course, if you lose what you love in the process of work, your work will also suffer as a result!
Thanks again, and Cheers!
