Twitter TV Special: Carpe Diem – Sieze The Day, or prepare to fail in this dangerous 2009 marketplace

This 5 Minute video is a brief moment from the movie ‘Dead Poets Society’, starring Robin Williams.  Made in 1989, it is even more relevant in these turbulent times.

I was reminded of this today when I saw a shock news report about a burns victim.
The person was making his way along a pavement, when the jaws of hell opened. Without warning, he was caught in a fire from an exploding gas container, and extensively burned.  It could have been anyone.

Sometimes we need these ‘news’ shocks to make us realize: Do we have all the time in the world?  No. We don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow, nobody does.

Here’s the deal: It has become clear to me that there is one central issue, only one thing that stops most people from succeeding online: We think we might actually put our internet business idea into action tomorrow, or maybe the next day, or even next week.  Then we buy another Internet Marketing product instead of DOING SOMETHING.  Then life intrudes and holds us up further. Maybe something unexpected then happens like it did to the man walking along the pavement.

“Gather ye rosebuds while ye may …”
“Make hay while the sun shines … “
The quotes go on forever , but do we listen?

Furthermore, last week  I made the point that people ‘hope’ an online business will work instead of knowing.   If you just hope it will work, then don’t start.  But if you KNOW your idea will work, don’t stop and celebrate, put it into action. Above all it is lack of major continuous action, and evasion of responsibility that causes failure.

Bottom line is – as Tony Robbins says – take MASSIVE ACTION.  Let’s get our show on the road, because that is the only thing that will get us to the sunny shores of our ideal.

Carpe Diem.

Wow thanks so much for this Jonathan I can really resonate with this story. 8 weeks ago I took massive action. I started a course that I could not afford at the time but did it anyway. Built a new online business as part of the course and 8 weeks later I have taken what I learnt made $1,000 for 2 hours work using one of the strategies taught, got a new marketing client, just got invited to speak at a women’s event and be in an international magazine and I am also going to Beverly Hills to be the success story for the course I just completed.

Why….because I took massive action and decided it seize the day! Wow it has been so liberating to just do it and have a go.

So thank you so much for reinforcing what I already knew to be true.

Love your stuff Jonathan. Thank you.
Cheers

Hi Jonathan,

Great episode today and as usual thanks for sharing.

Robin Williams is great, fantastic actor and films but this clip really makes you think.

To be specific, I have found that reading emails all day really stunts growth and action. It’s like you are stuck in a jar or something.

Getting off email lists or putting them in different email accounts to check maybe once a week could make all the difference but it’s not easy. One seems to need or want to learn more but without eventually putting it into action, it doesn’t happen. Probably only have 4 or 5 email lists to be on, or less.

Formulate a plan then do it with your head down and tweak as you go.

Thanks Jonathan.

Regards

Tony

Tony … agree re emails. That can be one of the worst time sinks.
One thing I do is simply turn off the computer entirely for several hours.
Has an amazing effect on thinking / IQ? and productivity.

As always, you know what I think about your work. A great reminder. That’s why I’ve taken the past week off enjoying the climate of southern California. Just perfect. You don’t need to always be working. Sometimes taking time off is just as productive.

The key is to do something. Now. Always true.

Johnathon

“Thanks” just doesn’t seem like enough to say for this Cafe episode.

I have not seen the movie but will be certain to now. My Family Trust is titled
Carpe Diem yet somehow that scene brought its meaning to me stronger than before. AND the fact that You did not intro it with your usual Cafe opening allowed it to be stronger and more effective than it might have been had you done so.

Although not enough…THANKS for your continued efforts..Hey too bad there’s no trophy to go with this note…

Best Regards
Nick

PS..Small factoid ..Robin Williams half brother Teaches Physics at Christian Brothers H.S. here in Memphis(different name). Both my sons attended there. The resemblance is uncanny..LOL
